hi welcome to emerald city bound my name is vanessa rogers and you're watching another motivate me monday. this is a series where we look at an inspirational person or quote and a find inspiration for
Most Strikeouts In A Game, ourselves. so today we're looking at babe ruth and i am not a huge baseball person but i do love sandlot and this is where i learned about babe ruth. so babe ruth
died over sixty years ago but he is still the most famous baseball player in major league baseball. he's a true american icon. he was a player during the great depression when hope was a scarce commodity and he gave people hope. his impact on the game continues today because he is still the benchmark
baseball players are measured on. so babe ruth has a lot of fantastic quotes. this is one "every strike brings me closer to the next home run." "swing as hard as you can" so another quote from him is "i swing big with everything i've got. i hit big or i miss big. i like to live as big as i can." he was someone who believed in going big
or going home he worked hard daily over the course of his career and he hit 714 home runs. to give you some perspective roger connor who was the baseball player who had previously held the record hit 138 home runs in his career. he had an 18-year career and babe ruth had a 21year career. so 714 homeruns versus a
138. that is a huge significant difference. so in 1920 babe ruth bested his home run record he set in 1919 by belting a staggering 54 home runs a season in which no other player in more than 19 and only one team hit more than babe ruth individualy really which is incredibly remarkable. ok a couple other quotes "never let the fear of
striking out get in your way." and "every strike brings me closer to the next one." which is the one we mentioned earlier but it's worth repeating again. so this is the thing i find remarkable about babe ruth that i think not a lot of people know. so babe ruth did have the record for the most home runs but he also had a strikely different record which was the most
strikeouts of any player in 1923 and during his 21-year career he struck out 1330 times.thats nearly twice his home run record. so he struck out almost twice as many times as he did to have home runs and this record, the strikeout record was also broken by another baseball legend mickey mantle nearly 30 years ago (later) which i don't think is coincidence
because if you're willing to fail then you're willing to go all the way and babe ruth didn't believe in giving up "you just can't beat the person who never gives up." this is another quote from babe ruth. so he was no doubt a talented baseball player but what made him a legend wasn't his skill but it was his mindset. he swung hard and he swung to win
but if he didn't hit the ball he didn't get frustrated, he just played harder the next time. he played without fear. he looked at fear brazenly in the face and said come and get me because the more i strikeout the more... the closeri i will be to my next home run. he fearless and he didn't give up just because he didn't hit the ball the first time so take
it from the great bambino and swing hard every time. if you strike out smile and try again next time because each fail will get you closer to your goal. so tell me about a time when you failed or tell me about how you can look failure brazenly in the face. please like if you enjoyed this video and share this with someone who you think might find
this inspirational and motivational. i hope to see you again on the yellow brick road emerald city bound. thanks again
