What Time Is The Football Game Today, peterson blows out his acl. this is the one-year anniversary of adrian peterson's surgery to repair the ligament.

and unbelievably, he's knocking on the door of history. minnesota vikings will receive the opening kickoff and off we go on america's game of the week. marcus sherels from about five yards deep in the end zone brings

it out and crosses the 20. understand we've had some audio difficulties already. here comes adrian peterson. he's 208 yards shy of a single season

record. a record that he's been chasing and many other backs since 1984, the 2,105 put up by eric dickerson, then of the l.a. rams. now we'll see what the packers can do

defensively against number 28. he shredded them for 210 yards four weeks ago in green bay. he gets it to start the day. got hit right at the line of scrimmage by

morgan burnett, no gain. troy, we'll take a look at some of the faces and key players in this game when we give you the lineups. a couple of pro bowl alternate

alternates, kalil and sullivan. the two pro bowlers, peterson and the guy blocking for him. >> troy: felton has had a heck of a year. adrian peterson credits him for his

success. >> joe: second down and ten. they fake a toss. pass is caught. the first completion of the day is to rudolph. he's got enough for a

first down. >> troy: nice start for ponder. he shows good patience. we've seen him quick to leave the pocket. he gets off his first read, which was in the

flat, comes right back. really, his go-to guy, kyle rudolph, there at the second level. >> joe: he's their big weapon. this is not a team that features a lot of

completions. two wide receivers, as opposed to the green bay packers. first down at their own 33. peterson gets it. spins off the tackle. and the guy they love

here in minneapolis carries it out to the 45 for 12 and a first down. >> troy: they bottle adrian peterson up at the line of scrimmage. that is really the best way to keep him

from picking up positive yardage. they do their job but fail to wrap him up pup he's able to bounce it to the outside and you have another missed tackle. that hurt the defense

the last time the two teams met, not wrapping up. he's a hard guy to get to the ground, as we know. you've got to get him and swarm to him to get him to the ground.

>> joe: from the 45, here's peterson again. we've seen three carries, one pass. brad jones right in the middle of peterson refusing to go down. now a look at the defense for green bay.

these four faces, clay matthews, another year, another pro bowl. c.j. wilson. those two guys weren't here when the packers defensively tried to stop adrian peterson.

raji in the middle of it and williams, their best corner. second down and seven. ponder. in trouble. raji in his face. the pass is incomplete.

b.j. raji got a piece of it. third down for minnesota. >> troy: raji has elevated his game in the last month of the season. he went through a

stretch there, joe, where he was not playing very good football. but he's been very disruptive the last couple of weeks. he certainly is here. he beats his man right

in the middle. gets pressure on christian ponder and just nowhere to go with the football. excellent job by ponder, just getting it out and avoiding the sack.

>> joe: so now third down and seven. gerhart in the backfield for the first time. peterson out of the ball game. ponder finds a man. he's got a first down.

the catch made by simpson. good for eight. >> troy: they've had a hard time getting jerome simpson going this week. it would be nice if he could play well, or as

expected when the season began. he runs a good route. christian ponder slides a little to his right because of the pressure and delivers a strike to jerome >> joe: i know you

like ponder when he's on the move throwing or returning it. >> troy: that's his strength, his ability to run. >> joe: first down inside the 45. quick throw, and a

dangerous pass in the direction of simpson, with shields bearing down on him. >> troy: we called that game the last time these two teams met, joe. as you said, i mean,

the wide receivers had a tough time getting open in that game. didn't have a catch until late. but already, in this first possession, they're doing a lot better things than

they did the last time these two teams played. >> joe: third down conversion on that completion to simpson. now second and ten. . ponder out to his

right. throws it away. chased by erik walden. third down and ten coming up. >> troy: i think one of the things that has held back ponder is his ability to get to

the second and third receivers. this is not his primary guy, michael jenkins. he comes off of the outside receiver and goes through his progression, he's able

to see jenkins flash in front of him and could have been an easy completion. that's one of the areas where they're trying to get some improvement from this second year

quarterback. >> joe: on third down late rush by clay matthews. ponder going to try and run for it, and he won't get it. well, with one of the game's best place

kickers on their roster, right now, the vikings are well within the range of blair walsh. and they'll try to get points in the opening possession. it will be a 54-yard

try. >> troy: he's been pretty good from 50-plus yards. hasn't missed all season long. speaking of pro bowls. he just got voted to the pro bowl this

week, a nice honor for him. >> joe: first kicker in the history of the league to have nine field goals good from 50 or more. and he has ten. what a weapon.

and more first possession points. good hold by kluwe after a bobble. and it just creeps over the c >> joe: it was a little eight-yard run by christian ponder on

fourth and ten that made it a 54-yard try for walsh. they did the rest. 3-0 for minnesota. they win, they're in the playoffs. remember, no randall cobb, out with a bad

knee. so jeremy ross takes a that's a big weapon number 12 do >> joe: it is america's game of the what's at stake? the green bay packers have a number two seed

in front of them with a win. there's another way to get it, but it's not likely. for the vikings, trying to clinch their fourth playoff berth over the last 12

years. starting at the 20, down by three. ryan grant gets it. started to his left. cuts upfield and gets two. kevin williams on the stop and the offense,

led by their quarterback, the number one rated quarterback in the nfl, has been this way, troy, all year. he gets jordy nelson back, who's missed the last three, but he

loses randall cobb, who is out with a bad knee and ankle. second and eight. play action from rodgers. has all day, and now finds finley. third and short coming

up as finley's good for four. >> troy: one of the things that's surprising to me, joe, in talking with mike mccarthy, is you see aaron rodgers now telling them to huddle

up, but they did not huddle up after the first down play, and they were going to go right to no-huddle. and playing on the road here in minnesota, as loud as this stadium can get,

with a guy who is making just his second start at center, it was surprising they'd go to that. mccarthy here has decided to slow it >> joe: third down and four.

rodgers steps up. flutterball and nearly picked off. looking for james jones, and there was a play to be made along the sideline. pass incomplete and cook almost came away

with a pick. >> troy: chris cook who came back from his joo injury last week has a golden opportunity to make the play. that would have been a great start for

minnesota, had they been able to make that interception. one cook should have made. >> joe: good punt by masthay with sherels having to retreat to the 15.

marcus sherels, a nice return. out near the 40. a 25-yard return by marcus sherels after a 59-yard punt. >> joe: a look at the offensive line. talking over on the

sideline with james as this drive starts at the 40. quick play action from look out, christian. down he goes. they're going to say incomplete pass as ponder's knee was

almost down. clay matthews was a half step too late. >> troy: clay matthews, you're going to see working against kalil. ponder feels the pressure but didn't

feel matthews would see if his knee was on the ground before the ball comes out. sure was. >> joe: sure did look like his knee was we're going to get a challenge from mike

mccarthy. >> troy: that was about a five-yard loss. if he had gotten it closer to the line of scrimmage or if the knee had gone down scrimmage, maybe you

don't challenge, but it's fairly substantial. >> referee: the ruling on the field, an incomplete pass, is challenged by green bay, saying down by contact.

>> joe: mike mccarthy is making the call right knee down, ball in his hand. looks like that will be a sack. >> joe: ruling on the field was an incomplete pass.

mike mccarthy challenged it. looks like the right knee is down of christian ponder as matthews got on that left leg. here's the call. >> referee: after

review, the quarterback's knee was down before the ball came out. therefore, it's a sack. it will be second second and 33 on the 17.

green bay wins the challenge. there is no time-out. >> joe: he reversed it. it's second and 17 with the ball at the 33. mike mccarthy is 5 out

of 8 with challenges. that percentage is unbelievable. how many bad challenge flags do we see week after week? that was a good one. second and 17. why not?

back up the vikings, make them throw. and to peterson. this team, troy, that's averaging more yards per rush than yards per pass, this season, sees peterson get five.

now it's third and long. >> troy: it's remarkable. i know vikings fans are tired of hearing about it as far as how well they run the ball, and yet how

inefficient they are at throwing the there's a lot of reasons for that. ponder is still growing. the players around him, with harvin going that's an aspect of

the game that has to get better. >> joe: on third down, setting up the screen for gerhart. toby gerhart has got near the 41. first down, minnesota. and this screen good

for 21 yards. >> troy: we saw matthews come in on the blindside of christian ponder for so what do they do? they come back and screen him and work his side, knowing that

he's giving matt kalil some problems on that side of the offensive line. and a good call there by offensive coordinator bill musgrave and a big conversion for a first

down, considering that they lost yardage on that first down sack. 12. a 21-yard catch and run. now peterson. takes it down inches inside the 35.

brought down by jones. a gain of five. let's go to patrick o'neill. >> texans losing earlier. opens the door for the broncos. knowshon moreno,

opening drive, eight plays, 69 yards. peyton manning and the broncos, should they win, have home field throughout the afc. joe, troy, peyton manning or adrian peterson mvp, have you

given it a thought? >> joe: i don't know how you look past 28 here. he's all they've got offensively. he gets it again. you just can't bring him down.

inside the 15, a big run by adrian jennings on the stop. a carry of 22. >> troy: brad jones is in a position to make the play. you'll see come into the screen there.

and hey, this is not one of those backs where you can come in and throw a shoulder and expect to get him on the ground. he's proven that not just this year, not just this game.

he's proven it throughout his career. and as i said earlier, you need a lot of helmets coming to him. you've got to hit him, wrap him up and hope to get help from your teammates.

>> joe: his 24th carry of 20 or more yards this season. here he is again. room to run. brought down by morgan burnett after a gain of five. for a running back

coming in needing 102 yards to become the seventh running back league to get 2,000 yards on the ground, he is up to 54. >> troy: pretty good start for him. i know last week going

into the game against houston, he was confident he would set the all-time record, break eric dickerson's even needing 208 here today, when we visited with him, he was still just as confident.

>> joe: second and five. delayed handoff. he makes it look easy. touchdown! >> troy: they go number 40 here red elephant. he'll be the lead

they go off the draw action, hand it off to him. it's one on one. somebody's got to make not until peterson gets it in the end zone. >> joe: his 12th

rushing touchdown of the season. what did adrian peterson say about the fullback? it's okay, but i tell him to get out of my way. he's made his

teammates get out of his way and the packers have been getting out of his >> joe: adrian peterson had 46 rushing yards on this drive. he has 61 on the day,

1,959 on the season. he's got 147 to go to be the all-time leader. we'll keep updating you and doing the math for you. second touchback by the big right leg of

and the packers start at the 20 yard line. we'll go down to pam oliver. >> pam: adrian peterson's health may be the only thing that slows him down a little bit.

he sprained an abdominal muscle two weeks ago against the rams. that's what leslie frazier told me before the game. he wants to see how things go with

peterson running the ball and go from there. naturally, peterson pro claimed himself quite healthy. back to you. >> joe: i think the packers would agree.

>> troy: i tell you what, with those runs he's had in the first quarter, he is playing with great confidence. i wouldn't bet against him at this point. >> joe: handoff is to grant.

and grant gets nothing. look at this vikings defense, which is 16th ranked but as you said in the opening, troy, when you were heard. i think your mike cut out about halfway

through, this defense has been better during the three-game winning streak. they still have allen. they get robinson back, winfield and then that good rookie safety, harrison smith

on the back end. pass good for five to finley. third down coming up. >> troy: the defense has been better, joe. as we know, they're better here in the dome and when you good

back to talking about adrian peterson's rushing record if, in fact, he sets it today, this defense is going to play a part too, because they've got to keep him close. with the offense doing

what they've done, they've got a ten-point lead. blitz. packers pick it up but the ball's tipped at the line. it's back-to-back three and outs for

aaron rodgers and the green bay offense. >> troy: you talk about this vikings defense, and it's a defense that, joe, had given up, you know, some yardage recently. but the performance

that they had last week, and that win against the houston texans who really had everything to play for, this team right now comes into this game with about as much confidence as you

could hope for. >> joe: greenway got a piece of the throw from rodgers. sherels on the return. trying to get to the sideline. and he is out of bounds at the 45.

let's take a look at all the backs who have gained 2,000. ♪ the world is yours ♪ >> joe: the all-time record holder, eric dickerson, does not want that record to fall.

the long stride, that up and down running style for straight up and down of eric dickerson and a.p. is not too far away from that. he gets swallowed up by b.j. raji.

so eric dickerson is back home in california. he said he'd be watching the game today. and you're right, i mean, any of these record holders,

regardless what was they say, they don't want their records to but it's pretty safe in assuming that if that record is broken, adrian peterson would be a great guy to have green bay defense

trying to figure it out. handoff is to he is back near the original line of scrimmage. third and ten coming up. walden in there to

make the stop. >> troy: that's really the way that they want to play. and it was nice on the last two plays, the way that they were able to corral adrian peterson and just not

give him any lanes and then get four, five helmets on him. that's the only way you could really slow this guy down. now, they're committing a lot of players to try to slow

if ponder puts this on jenkins in front, where he can catch it and go for the first down, it's an easy pick up. >> joe: looked like jenkins was a full yard short of the

they gave him an extra half yard, but he's still short. now what do you want to do? do you want to bang it up in there with adrian peterson, up by ten already, or do you

want to punt? field goal right now out of the question. >> troy: right now, the way the game has shaped up and with a ten-point lead and the way the defense has played, i think you've

got to pin green bay deep. i would not agree with going for it here on fourth down. >> joe: they're going to. or try to get green bay to jump offsides.

the guy's a phenomenal player and does a great job of securing the football, because the packers are going for it. >> joe: of all the running backs we've talked to, troy, over

the years, i've never heard you bring up emmitt smith more than you did when we talked to peterson. you have the same kind of respect you had for your number 22 as peterson carries it to

the 35. >> troy: those guys are special players. adrian peterson is a different kind of back than emmitt smith was. one of the things they do have in common is they both carried the

ball in one arm and they don't switch arms. emmitt smith always carried the ball in his left arm. adrian peterson always carries the ball in his right arm.

that's why on the fourth down play, when he was running to his left, right ball's exposed. and he has fumbled the ball at times. that's his risk. but that's what he's

fourth lowest in the nfl. but jennings wanted now it's second and goal from the 6 with a team that's third best in the red zone on offense. pass is incomplete.

finley the intended cook was there defending for the >> troy: jermichael finley such a big of course, chris cook, who they have missed because of the injury that he had, a broken

arm, was back against houston. had about 30 snaps. they're counting on him to make the plays he just made. goal. time-out taken by the packers.

they have one remaining and a big third down when we come back. goal from the 6 for the packers, down by 13. rodgers throws. penalty flag is

thrown. pass was caught. but no signal yet of a touchdown. it's finley on the catch. it looked like his feet were in the end couldn't see exactly

where the ball was. erin henderson was wrapping him up. let's take another look. it's a penalty against henderson for that hold. there's the catch.

it looked like it was awfully close to being a touchdown. >> troy: it was close. you see harrison smith. he comes in, he's got an arm on the ball and then it comes loose at

the very end. i think they're going to get erin henderson there for the contact on jermichael finley. >> joe: this is an interesting decision. do you want to go first and goal from

about the three or do you want to challenge it if you're mike if you don't win the challenge, you're out of challenges. they're just going to leave it alone and not challenge what looked

to be pretty close to they have to win the challenge to get a third. so first and goal. pass is juggled and dropped by jennings. absolutely wide open and jennings could not

haul it in. >> troy: they break the coverage so jennings is in the flat wide open and just fails to make the play. >> joe: you don't see that very often from

greg jennings. jennings could have rend ered that decision not to challenge on the finley catch on the goal line irrelevant. play clock is winding boy, this is as

frustrated as we've seen aaron rodgers all year. he's going to have to use his final time-out. so it will be second down and goal after that incompletion on

first and goal. wide open was greg welcome you into the broadcast booth. they'll talk about it on the sideline. the vikings defense will discuss it. this has been about as

good a start the vikings could have hoped for. >> troy: if they're able to make the stop, it will be huge for the defense. it's been a nice drive for the packers.

aaron rodgers is frustrated. it began when he had the delay of game penalty called against that's one they don't always call. in fact, most of the time, they don't.

and that was significant play. and since that time, aaron rodgers has been frustrated and having conversation with the officials. now, having said all that, they had the

opportunity to come away with a touchdown there to greg jennings, who just failed to make the >> joe: now second and rodgers looking left. now out to his right. third and goal.

>> troy: this secondary for the minnesota vikings does an outstanding job. these guys on the back end had to maintain coverage for so long because of aaron rodgers being able to

get outside the pocket. they did it. aaron surveys the field as well as anybody. there's just nobody open. >> joe: so now from

what looked to be a possible touchdown with finley to a vikings defensively before a third and let's go back to the finley play that was not challenged by mike finley made the catch.

he was held. that set up the first and goal. but question is did he secure the catch while across the goal line. >> troy: i'm not sure he did, joe. harrison smith comes

in and he gets his right hand on the ball and it's moving. of course, there was no visual evidence i wasn't even certain he'd made the catch had it been reviewed. >> joe: again, had

mccarthy challenged it and not won the challenge, he'd have been out of challenges the rest of the day. now third down and from the 3. rodgers with all day again.

finds jennings, who this time hangs on for the touchdown. dropped it on first he catches it on third and goal and the packers are within one score. >> troy: this is just

like the previous play when he couldn't find anybody open. he signals to jennings to work back in his vision. jennings was working the baseline away from as he signals to

jennings at this point to come back toward me, jennings does, and he finds the hole in >> joe: this will make it a six-point game from crosby. thinking all the way back, it was set up by

the return by jeremy ross. a 32-yard return. >> joe: greg jennings let a sure touchdown go on a first and goal from aaron rodgers. and then found a hole in the defense on

now it's a six-point crosby kicks it away, with sherels waiting for it from inside the end zone. he'll take it out. nice return by sherels, out near the 40.

just shy of it. a 40-yard return as curt menefee tells us what's coming up at halftime. >> curt: coming up on the visa halftime, we'll get you caught up on the action and

how it affects the playoff picture. in the afc, the number one seed is still up for the grabs as indy hands houston their second straight loss. >> joe: the texans could slide from what

looked like a sure number one seed to a number three seed if both the patriots and the broncos win in the second half of the day. after a fast start, he's been slowed down

lately. a gain of one. matthews was there to spoil the play. so 139 yards away from the 2105 put up by dickerson. we've got to get to work.

first two drives at 61 yards, the last two just seven. blitz coming from burnett. this one up for grabs, and it is caught by wright. the official coming in

says catch. he's looking for help. >> troy: give it a i think he got underneath it. jarius wright. he makes the play and when that ball -- well, no.

the tip of it, as you see. but the vikings are trying to get a snap off right now before their chance to throw the red flag. we're outside of two minutes.

the packers don't have any timeouts remaining. they can't challenge. the handoff is to peterson. >> joe: this is definitely not a >> troy: immediately,

minnesota, you're playing defense and hoping the ball isn't intercepted. jarius wright, i thought initially he'd made the catch. clearly, he did not. without any timeouts,

mccarthy they see it. they're not able to do anything about it. >> joe: he could not challenge without a time-out on the scoreboard as gerhart carries it for a small gain of two.

we're at four for the vikings, who are inside field goal range for blair ponder throws and it's bobbled but caught by simpson for a first another good throw from ponder on third

a gain of ten. >> troy: it really was, and they brought pressure to ponder's front side. you see the separation, a good job by simpson of getting the separation and

then securing the even though it was bobbled initially. sam shields was in here's the pressure on the front side, but the vikings block it up beautifully and ponder, who was

warming up prior to the third down play because he'd injured his elbow on the hit he took. >> joe: peterson. look at adrian peterson down inside shields stops his

williams in on the stop and a gain of 18. there was nothing there and adrian peterson turns it into >> troy: morgan burnett was in the hole, in the backfield, was there

to make a play and i'm not sure why he didn't get his hands on adrian peterson, but he didn't. and peterson is able to get loose. you're going to see number 42 there, and

he just doesn't go after peterson. i don't know if he didn't realize that h actually had the ball but he's late. peterson breaks a tackle. and he gets a nice

gain out of the play. >> joe: adrian is up to 91 yards rushing on here's what you were talking about. ponder banging his throwing arm on the helmet of morgan burnett while we went

to the ground. during the time-out he was warming up the arm and followed it up with a ten-yard >> troy: the elbow was bothering him and felt confident enough to throw the strike.

>> joe: vikings took a one left. the 8. ponder, wright, >> troy: jarius wright in the backfield as a he makes the play. and across the goal line and how big was

that play now that the packers didn't have a time-out to challenge the catch? starting to use jarius wright with the vikings the way the packers use randall cobb or the redskins

use brandon banks. here's the catch earlier that looked like it was trapped by jarius wright, but mike mccarthy didn't have a time-out so he couldn't challenge it. he plays later after

another impressive 18-yard run by adrian an eight-yard touchdown to number >> joe: you think back to the last time-out the packers had to burn. the clock was running

down when they were inside the 5 yard line and aaron rodgers had to use it so they couldn't challenge the call. a nice job by the vikings, after that, being able to come

away with the you mentioned jarius wright, a guy who was inactive the first nine weeks of the season, got his opportunity because of the injury to percy harvin.

he's made the most of right now, he's the best wide receiver they have on the team. vikings with five possessions, four scores and a 13-point lead. >> joe: troy, we came

on the air talking about what we expected to see. obviously, a lot of would christian ponder be good enough to keep this green bay defense honest. the answer so far is

yes. here's the kick by that is his third touchback of the day. 52nd of the season. >> troy: as i said coming in, joe. you look at the teams that are vying for a

playoff spot, that are in the playoffs, those quarterbacks are some of the best in the game, including this guy right here, aaron that's not how the minnesota vikings are built.

not taking anything away from christian ponder or what he has to do. the defense has to continue to do the things they've done. they run the ball with adria peterson and

they've won a lot of games without having to get a lot of production out of their quarterback. as long as he doesn't make the mistakes, which he's not done in the first half, this

team will be hard to beat. >> joe: you see the total yards and the difference. a time-out. that hurt them defensively and will factor in offensively

as jennings is good for 14. >> troy: this becomes a big drive for both teams. if the packers are points on this drive, it's significant going in at half.

>> joe: pass caught by gets a block on the edge by jones. finley is out of bounds at midfield. james jones was engaged in a block and it got finley up the sideline for 16.

>> troy: we've seen it in this game. jordy nelson and james jones. they go to block. that's what the packers do. they get the ball to they block the inside

pursuit and are able to get extra yardage because of it. >> joe: first down at midfield. remember, the packers have a shaky field goal kicker at the moment.

he'll weave his way down inside the 40. they're inching their way to field goal range for mason crosby. clock is stopped with 31 second left. >> troy: here's

another example with james jones coming the other side. he's in the slot, not expecting the pass. he'll block. because of that, the guy who would be making the tackle is

blocked and jordy nelson able to get more yards out of the play than he otherwise would. >> joe: mason crosby has got a big leg, but he's missed more field goals than any other

kicker in the nfl this on second and ten. rodgers in trouble. can't get rid of it. everson griffin makes and a big sack for number 97. his sixth of the year. >> troy: this guy has

had a heck of a last week, he got the start because of robinson. he can put pressure on the quarterback. >> joe: the packers get a quick one to he needs to get out of

bounds, and he will. and a smart play to put green bay in mason crosby in field goal range for points before the half. >> troy: the previous play, when griffin was able to get to

rodgers, you'll see jordy nelson. he came loose and there's a lot of field rodgers saw him late. just as he's trying to get the ball thrown, griffin was there to make a key stop.

>> joe: a big 14-yard completion to finley to set up a 51-yard try by crosby. and crosby absolutely drills it. just his second of the season from this range beyond 50.

and the 51-yarder from the kicker that mike mccarthy and ted thompson have stuck with through a trying season makes this a ten-point game at the half. >> troy: joe, that

would have been good from 61 yards. >> joe: absolutely drilled by crosby. rodgers got them in they know how to handle their two-minute >> joe: you just can't bring him

america's game of the week. we welcome you back to minneapolis. 20-10, the vikings are on top. and we welcome you inside our i'm joe buck. that's troy aikman. and three big points scored by the packers before the half to

make it a ten-point game. but the pressure's on the vikings in this one, trying to win their fourth straight. and they've done a lot of things well here today. >> troy: they have. the things they wanted to do and really needed to do to win this

game have come to pass. i mean, with the exception of giving up the three points there, you know, to end the first half. they've run the ball well with adrian peterson. christian ponder has done a nice job.

he's made plays when he's needed defensively, they've been able to us from trait aaron rodgers. >> joe: the defense will be on the field to start the second you can follow your team all season long by going to itunes.com/nfl. walsh has got three touchbacks

he's got 52 on the year and he's in the top five in that category. his rookie season has gone as well as it could go. sixth round pick out of georgia. they got rid of ryan longwell, long-time packer favorite, to

give walsh the job. he booms another one. in the back of the end let's go down to the field and pam oliver. >> pam: mike mccarthy didn't address offense or defense. his main thing was

spotting of the ball and how long it takes to do that. he says the officials are way too slow. as for leslie frazier, he said we've got to create turnovers. i asked if he's

concerned about the record for adrian he said we're just going to do what we run the ball and try to win a ball game. >> joe: it's not on the list of priorities.

but usually, when he has big games, so do the vikings, trying to win here today. >> troy: feel like if the vikings win the game, he'll get the >> joe: harris running left, now cutting

upfield. dujuan picks up five. harrison smith on the we look at the statistics halfway through it. 91 yards rushing, by the way, for adrian peterson so far.

he's 11 away from 2,000 on the year. second and five. rodgers has time to look everywhere. and he finds jones. and james jones is into vikings territory.

no pass rush and aaron rodgers surveyed the scene and found jones for 30. >> troy: no pass rush at all. because of that, aaron rodgers is able to sit there and he scans the

field to his left and he comes back to his then he comes back to his left again. you see the block there by jermichael he laid out chris cook. >> joe: on first down,

rodgers steps up and is tripped. first guy on top of him is griffin. but his feet got tangled up, a loss of three. >> troy: looked like he got tripped up by

his right tackle. don barclay. he comes up in the he steps up. the left foot gets caught with barclay. otherwise, he had room to maneuver and even scramble.

>> joe: antwoine winfield, his return questionable. out with the broken bone in his hand. false start by james >> referee: false start offense, number 88.

five yards. second down. >> troy: the silent count has gotten very sophisticated. even when you're a road team, you're able to use the hard kowt. aaron rodgers does

there and his own team is called for the false start. >> joe: that said, i don't know that there's a team in the nfl that is less afraid of a second and 18 than the packers.

that's jennings, makes the move. vikings ran into each other. jennings down the sets up first and goal inside the 10. 45 yards to greg that's his longest of

>> troy: you're going to see jermichael finley as he comes off it's hard to imagine he picks up the first there's three guys there, greenway, jefferson and the safety.

and he just is able to make them all miss and >> joe: here's harris on a toss, running sanford is the one who forced harris to the jamarca coming up from the safety spot. out of bounds just

outside the five. >> troy: you called it, joe. their second and 18 didn't scare them at all. they pick up the first to end the first half with the field goal

was big. it was big in giving mason crosby some confidence. and then to come off of that with this first possession of the third quarter and be where they're at,

the big momentum shift. wide open for the touchdown, his second of the day, greg jennings! and a bust in no winfield out there. jennings is all

smiles. there are a lot of people in this stadium that could have thrown that for a touchdown. the extra point to make ate three-point >> troy: greg jennings in the slot.

you'll take a look here and you'll see exactly what happened. the corner chases the slant route and doesn't stay outside. he thought he was in man. the others were

playing zone. that's how you get that open. told us yesterday, i can't wait to see greg jennings back in the slot, which is where randall cobb has been. six catches, 95 yards,

two touchdowns. it's a three-point >> joe: out at mall of america, they're putting the finishing touches on that impressive ice castle display. it's set to open for

tours tomorrow. you and the girls missed it by one day. structure will stand 40 feet tall, span over two acres and it will not melt anytime soon. i promise.

it's cold. here's robinson on the josh is out to the 20. that's it. more about greg here's pam oliver. >> pam: could this be his last regular season game as a

packer? he's wondering the same thing. he told me the answer could be yes. his deal is up after the end of the season and he's faced with the possibility of

moving on. he admitted he may be expendable with the emergence of randall cobb and his versatility. >> joe: thanks, pam. as mike mccarthy told us, greg jennings went

to the pro bowl playing slot and he's back in that position. he is having his best day of the season. gets by raji. gets by pickett. gets into the secondary.

and jennings forces him out of bounds at a 20-yard run and he's over 2,000 yards for the seventh running back in the history of the league to get >> troy: what a great run for him to get it

on, joe. because the packers were in a great position to make a play on him. they had erik walden out there. they had the extra defender in a position

and he's able to outrun everybody and pretty much a signature adrian peterson run in terms of you do all you can with personnel and it's not enough. >> joe: he's less than

a hundred yards short of the all-time even closer to it as he crosses the 45, a >> troy: we talked about it a while ago. for him to get the record, certainly defensively, they've

got to be able to make some stops, get the ball back into minnesota's hands. and that last drive by the packers, there was just no pass rush and if they don't start generating that like

they were at times in the first half, aaron rodgers will pick them apart. >> joe: they play action. and the pass incomplete for jarius and i don't know a

team in the nfl that should be able to get more out of play action than the vikings when you fake it to adrian peterson, because you just figure he's going to get it every time

ponder takes a snap. >> troy: you don't see a lot of throws down the field. you're constantly given one-on-one coverage and you think you would see more shots down the field

taking chances. i don't recall one at all in the first half. >> joe: ponder on pass nearly picked off by the rookie. casey hayward almost had one. after one first down,

the punt team comes back for the vikings. >> troy: casey hayward is anticipating slant. he's playing hard inside. when you've got a defensive player that far inside, you're

just not going to win. it's going to be contested. casey hayward has been excellent. he's really had a nice rookie year. >> joe: the good slot defensive back working

on the tight end. almost came away with number seven. no fair catch and ross is tough to bri how about him? another guy that ted thompson, the general manager of the

packers, has found. ten-yard return and there wasn't much >> joe: they celebrate 2,000 yards on the scoreboard here. but the concern for the vikings is it's getting tighter.

three-point game. and rodgers just great coverage downfield. but they're going to get jasper brinkley for shoving rodgers to the ground. >> referee: personal

foul, roughing the passer. 54 of the defense. unnecessary roughness, 15 yards. >> troy: here's the problem with it, joe. the ball comes out. the quarterback's

afforded two steps. if he's hit within that two-step period, then it's not a and rodgers, in my opinion, had not taken the two steps. but having said that, jasper brinkley did

not need to hit him. he knew the ball came out and that's just not a very smart play on his part. i mean, you know that these officials are going to protect the >> joe: how does that

make ex-quarterbacks feel that got plastered after every time they threw it away? >> troy: well, a little upset. i mean, i don't like seeing it, but it's

what it is. >> joe: from the 36, first down after the 15-yard penalty of brinkley. screen for harris. and dujuan harris, he is tough to bring first down, green bay.

here's patrick o'neill with a game break. >> let's check in on the denver broncos, taking on k.c. peyton manning, look at this catch by demaryius thomas. one hand.

looks like 11 straight wins and home field throughout for denver. 28-3 lead. back to joe and troy. >> joe: they're in the business of wrapping up that number one seed.

thank you, patrick. first down for green bay, trying to wrap up a number two seed in the nfc. dujuan harris over the right side on first gets to erin henderson on the stop and the

playoff picture is pretty easy to go through. right now, it's chicago in, but a win by minnesota, the vikings are in, the bears are out. seattle is losing at

home to the rams, believe it or not. rams are undefeated this year in the nfc west. and san francisco is up 17-6 at home over arizona. they're in a battle

with green bay for that number two seed. they're going to like what they have in him. he was with jacksonville last he gets six. >> troy: he's run the ball well in this ball

all of these runners that they have, they're all different and they all kind of have their different strengths. and they've got their own little packages when they're in the

green bay, as they go back to some of that no-huddle. >> joe: false start. there was movement across, but the snap never came. start, offense number 67.

five-yard penalty. >> joe: they get barclay. sitton was moving as well. >> troy: barclay is an undrafted free agent. he hasn't been starting very long.

you get in this environment in the no-huddle and you saw aaron rodgers communicating to the wide receivers what he wanted, calling prerkss at the line. it gets loud.

those guys get nervous up front. gets hit as he let it go. that's a live ball. knocked out by it looked like the vikings got on top of it's a fumble by aaron

the vikings were closest to it when the pile started. harrison smith thinks minnesota has it. and mike carey lets the side judge and others untangle that mess.

vikings football. sanford comes out of the pile with the ball. hand empty as the arm goes forward. ruled a fumble, no pass. sanford with the

recovery. robinson knocked it first turnover of the vikings have it, up three at midfield. >> joe: first turnover of the day, put on the carpet by aaron picked up by jamarcus

sanford. the vikings have it at midfield in a win they need to make the play action. ponder down the got simpson. inside the 30. i thought this was

going to be the time they'd go deep. but jerome simpson ran the route against williams. ponder delivers the nice throw. perfect time to go play action there on

that's deep by vikings standards. that's the first one over 20 on the day. here's peterson over the right side. and he's swarmed. no gain. turnover.

>> troy: a great job of continuing to play by brian robinson. rodgers bringing the ball back. the ball gets knocked out and the vikings had played man coverage across the

there was opportunity down the field. that's the pass rush that you've got to be able to get on otherwise, they have a matchup problem especially with antoine winfield not

on the field. and 11. movement by charlie johnson. should be against the >> referee: the defender comes into the neutral zone, the movement by the left

guard was delayed. it was a false start, offense number 74. still second down. >> joe: raji can come across. but the movement was delayed. that's johnson trying

to get an easy five instead, it's against number 74. >> troy: there's always a lot of finger pointing whenever the flag's thrown. he did it. no, he did it.

>> joe: second and 16. peterson at the bottom of the screen. ponder looks to his he's got a man. and the pro bowler has a first down. how about that play? >> troy: that's

big-time right there, because it gives them the first down. jerome felton, whos with outside wide as a fullback, and they've got tramon williams on you take your best cover guy and cover

your fullback with that's gaining a lot of respect for a guy making his third reception on the >> joe: they had peterson split out wide to the left and the fullback to the

tramon williams is wondering what just happened? why am i on this big guy? >> joe: he wasn't close enough. from the 18, first peterson and the ball

comes out. it's a live ball. lateraled by shields and that's going to be burnett or jennings. jennings on the but this is worth another look. a flag in the end of

let's see if peterson was down when this ball came out. i think minnesota keeps the football. >> troy: looked to me like his right knee was on the ground simultaneously as when

the ball -- yeah, the knee is on the ground before the ball goes to the turf. but i don't know what sam shields is thinking right here. >> joe: m.d. jennings was there and was

looking for big things along the sideline. on the field, a fumble recovered by green bay for a first down. after the play was over, unsportsmanlike conduct on minnesota, number 71.

it's a 15-yard penalty from the end of the we will review the previous play. to review it because it's a turnover play. they've got loadholt for unsportsmanlike conduct.

but in our opinion, and i think i speak for you -- >> joe: the ruling on the field was fumble. we just checked in with mike pereira. he agrees the knee was then there's an

unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. peterson, by the way, has only lost two fumbles all season and then loadholt came over, knocked it out of the arms of that would still be

enforced, that penalty, even if minnesota retains it would be a second and 27 at the 35 by our calculation. the play originally was a first and ten at the 18.

>> troy: the best part of that was bill loadholt was trying to tell the official that all he was doing was jogs off the field and did nothing wrong. >> joe: the videotape proves otherwise.

here comes mike carey. we think minnesota keeps it and then they mark the penalty off to move it back to the 35. review, the runner is down by contact at the 12 yard line.

however, there's a 15-yard unsportsmanlike will be enforced to the 35. >> joe: that's just good simple arithmetic by our statistician in the booth. so it's second and 27

from the 35. >> troy: ed added all that up? >> joe: he did. >> troy: way to go, ed. >> joe: philadelphia's own. it's been a rough day.

the eagles didn't end well today. >> troy: i'd give the ball to peterson because he's hot about putting the ball on the ground, and he's going to run awfully hard.

or you go play action hard and take that shot down the field that they have yet to take. >> joe: second and 27. and they're inside field goal range for here's peterson.

adrian peterson, out 10 at the 7. >> troy: tramon williams didn't want any part of this. i can't say i necessarily blame him. he's there to make the hit.

adrian peterson, you knew if he had the ball, he was going to do something with it, and he sure does. he gives him a first down even after the >> joe: look at that he's 64 yards away

from the all-time single season record. 28 yards. on second and 27. we do not know yet, certainly don't know the matchups and don't know the where and the when.

but we will be on the air next sunday wile card weekend. you'll need to check your local listings. you'll be bombarded with that information on the o.t., presented by lowe's.

we know tonight's game between the cowboys and the redskins is for the nfc east. the number four seed. i know tony romo has had an unbelievable month of december, as has dez bryant.

what do you think about the game? >> troy: i'm looking forward to watching it's going to be, obviously a great matchup. long time since the redskins have hosted a

game of such significance. it will be hard for any road team to win. >> joe: rg3, another week removed from the knee injury. the guy behind him, alfred morris.

has it batted back into his face. was looking for ryan pickett knocked it down. and now jerome simpson is slow to get up. >> troy: jerome simpson, 81, in the

there's the collision that happens with he and morgan burnett. >> joe: so they look at simpson. we'll take a break. stood up by brad good work by the inside linebacker,

brad jones. the third to try that spot for the packers this year from shop to smith to jones. >> troy: it was a really good play there by brad jones. we saw earlier in the

game when he failed to it's a lot harder pass than you think, but he made it. >> joe: peterson at the bottom of the screen. empty backfield with up to ponder.

flag flies. but there were flags on the coverage. it's a hold and an automatic first down a hold on rudolph, who ended up -- >> referee: half the distance to the goal.

automatic first down. >> joe: they get mik mcmillan. >> troy: he definitely grabbed him. he's got hold of his jersey. i don't know whate arguing about.

the official sees it. rudolph was able to make the catch. a big penalty there keeps the drive alive. >> joe: now first and goal from the 2. >> troy: on first down last time, they went

shotgun and threw it. i'd be surprised if peterson doesn't get it here. >> joe: there he is. well played. up front defensively for the packers, no c.j. wilson, who is

the best run defender along the defensive was in there to make the stop. been inactive the last four games with the they needed him to this drive all happened after the

fumble by aaron >> troy: three points is big here. played well. i got to believe you give the ball to adrian peterson on if they don't make it then, give it to him

on third down. >> joe: ponder keeps flips it. he got it through the air. touchdown adrian first touchdown catch of the season. >> troy: pretty

amazing. play action fake to peterson and nobody touches him. he was so wide open, ponder takes his time getting it in his hands. >> joe: seven points

off the turnover. and only the fourth career touchdown catch, first of this year for adrian >> troy: he's not a guy you throw the ball to a lot. when they roll out

with him, you would expect there to be contact with adrian peterson getting but there's not. and everybody had collapsed and that was an easy play for christian ponder to

make. >> joe: the drive and the touchdown, the points a result of the rodgers, recovered by it was robinson who knocked it out of the hands of aaron rodgers on what was to be the

third down throw. >> troy: great job by the vikings of course, peterson put the ball on the they got to keep it. his knee was on the ground, but they're able to take the drive

and come away with seven points. that's a big big time drive there by the vikings, cashing in on the fumble by aaron >> joe: meanwhile, san francisco is about to add to their lead at

home over the cardinals. 24-6, it would be, with an extra point to come. if green bay loses this game, it looks more and more like they'll be the number

three seed. a lot on the line for all those injuries. a bye week, if essence, if he could down by ten. here's ross. sanford made the play. they've been talking

about adrian peterson and how difficult he is. even when they have the defense called, morgan burnett is able to make the play. there's a long list of guys who have had this

opportunity to get in there and try to get peterson to the this time, tramon williams is on the even when you stack the line of scrimmage against adrian peterson, he gets his

yardage and he's been doing it throughout his entire career. >> joe: from the 13, rodgers, quick throw. pass is complete to tackle made by raymond. green bay packers have

not been able to establish a running they've been behind from the beginning. their best bet running it has been dujuan their running game has been so key for them over the last five

games. second down and five. they're going to run it with harris. made the most of it. third down and three >> troy: i played in this stadium for big games, played playoff

jordy nelson, out of bounds inside the 10. what a throw by aaron and the reigning mvp just completed one for 73 yards. >> troy: marcus sherels, the corner, is staring in the

backfield at aaron while he's doing that, jordy nelson is running right up the seem, right past him. >> joe: aaron rodgers puts it right on the money. wow, that one throw

changes the feel of this entirely. the crowd you were just talking about, they're stunned. >> troy: they sure are. i guess that ham string is pretty good

>> joe: pass is caught by jones. and he is to the goal no signal yet. and they're going to talk about it. let's take a look. the question is, was the right knee down as

he made that lunge. >> troy: looked to me, joe, like it was. very similar to the on the field is a fumble recovered by minnesota. >> joe: they're calling it a fumble.

>> troy: looks like the right knee is down after the ball was loose. very similar to what happened with adrian >> joe: it's a so it's automatically reviewed and mike

mccarthy will put the challenge flag back into his pocket. i think either way, the packers keep this rodgers was livid. it was very nearly a the officials got together and talked it

over and came up with fumble. his knee's down. that ball's in his hand. i don't see how there's any way the packers don't have the >> referee: before the

flag was thrown, the ruling on the field is being reviewed. >> joe: so we'll have a review. >> joe: we're going to bring in our rules expert, mike pereira, from los angeles.

there are so many sides to the ruling. first of all, they said no touchdown, it looks like the right knee of james jones is down. that's one part of it. the other part of it

is the challenge flag thrown by make mccarthy when it was a turnover review anyway. >>> here's the key, joe and troy. mike carey made the announcement that the

official upstairs, the replay official initiated the review before mccarthy threw the flag. so contrary to what happened to schwartz on thanksgiving day, since the review was

initiated before the flag was thrown, they'll review the they still should penalize mccarthy for throwing the penalty flag. but they'll go ahead and rule him down

because the runner is then it just becomes an issue of whether it's a touchdown or not. they'll still review it. >> troy: i don't know if you couldn't see

that, but how smart jordy nelson is. he saw the challenge flag come out and jordy nelson sprinted over, picked up the flag and tried to hide it because he knew that's not something

mike mccarthy should throw the challenge flag for. reviewed anyway. >> interesting too, joe. if the officials saw it on the ground before they raced down

and picked it up. but again, i think mike carey did say before he went to review it that they had initiated the review before the challenge flag was so they did see it.

so there's going to have to be a penalty but again, that distinction is the upstairs initiated that review first before the challenge flag was thrown. that's why they can

review this. >> joe: here's the >> referee: because the replay official was to review before the flag came out, we are allowed to review however, green bay will be charged 15

yards after the result. the result was that the runner broke the plane before he was green bay will be charged 15 yards on the kickoff. >> joe: that is such

an interesting call, because if they mark him down shy of breaking the plane of the end zone, then it moves the ball back to the 15 yard line and you have to score a now, all you're being

charged is the 15-yard penalty on the kickoff. >> troy: that's why aaron rodgers was upset, because he saw mike mccarthy throw the challenge flag, and there's a host of

people in detroit, michigan, right now that are upset about this call, because i don't understand how this was any different than what happened to the detroit li lions a few weeks back.

>> joe: you heard mike pereira say because distinction they were already in a review before the flag was thrown, that's why the play is allowed to be reviewed. and then they not only

give green bay the ball, they give green bay the touchdown and so instead of a 15-yard penalty marking it back to the 15 yard line and you have to go try and score the touchdown,

mike mccarthy and jordy nelson can laugh about it, ba you at the moment, it's only a 15-yard penalty on >> troy: i follow all that, and i follow what was said by mike carey as far as when

the review was initiated, but if you're leslie frazier, you're looking at this and there should not be a challenge made on a turnover or on a scoring play. that's been pointed

out by the league and that rule hasn't been changed. all i'm saying is regardless of when the review was initiated, to me, it's just like what happened in detroit.

and that's why leslie frazier is so upset about it. >> joe: let's go back to mike pereira. what are your thoughts? >> you changed the rule.

i mean, the rule is really ridiculous. the 15-yard penalty is punitive enough. to me, the object of replay is to get the call right. so to me, if the coach throws a challenge

flag, if it comes before the actual review is initiated or afterwards, penalize the coach for throwing the flag and review that's the logical thing to do, and i think that's what

they'll do in the off-season. >> joe: really, in essence, mike, that's what was done here on the fly by mike carey. if he says what he says, which is the review happened before

the flag comes out, it in essence nullifies at least for reviewing the play, the fact that mccarthy threw the challenge flag. >> yeah, you're right. >> troy: the right call was made.

what happened was and to mike's point, that's all you want. it's a stupid rule that shouldn't even be in place. >> joe: now crosby has to kick it from the 20 after the 15-yard

penalty because mccarthy threw the challenge flag. a flag is thrown. now you have a penalty against the vikings on the kick return by robinson, the vikings don't get anything

from mccarthy making the mistake of throwing a challenge flag on what was ruled a turnover. >> referee: during the return, holding on the offense, number 41. ten-yard penalty.

still first down. >> troy: he get five yards out of it. >> joe: so there you the hold against raymond on the return by robinson. mistral doesn't agree with the call and this

moves the ball back. they're going to mark it at the 20 yard >> troy: i still think you just give the ball to adrian peterson. >> joe: they lead by we're still in the third quarter.

they're evaluating him for a head injury. i saw him laughing on the sideline at one point, but he was the only one. >> joe: that was on the collision with morgan burnett the

last time the vikings had it. so their ranks are thin out there. burden is inactive. harvin is on i.r. and now simpson is being evaluated. third down and 12.

and there's nothing on this play. gerhart wrestled out by walden, and it's three and out. >> troy: the vikings overall have been good on third down today. but when they had the

penalty for false start, it looked like it was on the center, john sullivan. they called loadholt, about you they could have called any of the other four. i think sullivan

didn't snap the ball and it made it a difficult third down conversion for them. >> joe: now they'll back up five more five yards, fourth >> joe: they get rhett i go back to the

about it throughout when aaron rodgers has had time in the pocket like he did on the last play, he's been able to find guys open and get the ball in their hands. so for the vikings to
