here’s the issue with popular video gamefranchises: at some point or another, the nefarious contagion known as “edutainmentâ€creeps in. that’s just a blasphemy of a word. sound and fury, signifying nothing except- in most cases - a lackluster attempt at appeasing parents. and if your series is generallyaimed to a younger audience, like pokã©mon, all this goes moreso. so if you’re goingto succumb to this socially-responsible paradigm,
Best Pokemon Game For Ds, you might as well go an extra step or two.sure, anyone could make a pokã©mon typing tutor for pc. it wouldn’t be out of thequestion to hook a usb keyboard up to a wii and run it from there. but it takes a specialkind of madness to build functionality into a device that never had it before, all inthe name of hitting the largest market demographic.
behold, battle & get! pokã©mon typing ds. yes, that’s my typing enacting action onthe ds, through the magic of bluetooth! because everyone loves bluetooth. as the name of thegame suggests, you battle and get... pokã©mon... (transitive verb there, folks!) by typingat them. that’s right, it’s... the pokã©mon... of... the dead. or something along those lines.your guide to this madness is a girl named key, who may or may not be a metal idol. shedirects you through the almost 60 courses and experiences a vicarious thrill as youcollect the over-400 pokã©mon available in this... guh. edutainment title. and whilethe early courses seem rudimentary to the point of insult, later courses will challengeeven the most hardened interweb denizen. it
doesn’t help that the keyboard’s layoutfeels rather alien to the western hand; while the majority of keys are where you’d expectthem to be, small differences quickly become pronounced, like the parentheses being shiftedone number to the left, or the colon and semicolon being split onto different keys. it doesn’t help that i’m twice removedfrom the game’s target demographic: i’m not a child, nor do i need to improve my typingability. but in the pantheon of great “wtf†games, this thing takes the cake. sure, thekeyboard’s a little on the small side, and the use of nihon-shiki romanization in placeof the series’ trademarked names is bound to throw some folks off. i mean, who spellscherrim with a t? and if you’re looking
for an introduction to typing in anythingother than romaji, just keep walking, friend. there’s nothing for you here. well, exceptfor an oddity in the universe of pokã©mon games, almost as much as those 3rd-gen releasesfor the sega pico. but that’s another show entirely.
